I was a roadie once!

Back here in Singapore, I was looking at some old pics with my father and I came across an album put together during my uni days in Eugene, Oregon way way back in the 1980s. As the campus is rather large, riding a bike is the best way to get to lectures etc.

Like all uni students on a tight budget, I got myself a cheap charlie roadie by Huffy for about US$100 brand new. It served me well but it was more functional than anything else. At that time, I could not be fussy as it was a long walk or a short bike ride to classes.

I think it lasted me till nearly the end of my studies when it got stolen. I couldn't believe it when it went missing as one pedal has dropped off and only one brake was working. Guess it was my fault as I didn't bother to lock it. It was hard to believe that anyone would want this bike but...

Though I lost a bike, I gained many great friends and up to today, they still remain my closest buddies even though we may be living in different parts of the world.

Proverbs 17:17 - Friends love through all kinds of weather,
and families stick together in all kinds of trouble.

What at a point in our lives was seemingly normal and random can turn to be a reflection point with the passage of time.

Friendship is a very interesting thing. When the frequencies match, u can still be out of contact for many many years and one fine day when you do meet up. The chatter can continue like you last met him yesterday.

We have it easier now, got facebook and blog some more. haha.

Thank you for your wise sharing Bro TW. Such friendships are gifts from God. When they come our way, we should treasure them, nurture them and enjoy them! Yes with FB, blog etc, so much easier so we have no excuse not to keep in touch :)
